Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer news to emerge concerning the Yorkshire club.

This comes after Leeds-based Twitter page @LS11LUFC shared a post relaying news originally published in reports from Ghana (via Wales Online) that the Whites are interested in signing Swansea City striker Andre Ayew this summer on a free transfer.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest claim.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to this claim linking the club with a move for Andre Ayew?

“No he’s not a Leeds player”

@gilchrist_barry

“This doesn’t fit at all. He’s old and we have Bamford and Rodrigo. It’s a no deal for me.”

@markdennett86

“It’s a definite no for me. Always on the floor”

@terry_taff5

“I hope not. He’s not good enough to improve us to next level. Would surely just be backup if it happens.”

@Garymarshall_85

“Did I miss something here?? Are we playing Championship football next season?”

@MartynCopeland

“No chance, waste of a week’s wages, joffy and Greenwood much better prospects”

@MarkSheppy67

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems that these Leeds fans are not too keen on the idea of their club signing Ayew this summer, even as a free agent when his deal at Swansea expires at the end of the month.

Would you take Andre Ayew on a free transfer this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Despite managing to score 17 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions this season for the Welsh club, the fact that the attacker only has a total of 21 goals in 89 Premier League games is probably why these Leeds fans aren’t particularly excited by the idea of him joining Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this summer.

In our view, given that Ayew will be available on a free transfer this summer, he has experience in the Premier League, he has previously worked under Bielsa and can play in any attacking position, perhaps securing him as a backup option this summer wouldn’t be the worst idea.
