Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims they could be about to target Lyon’s Maxwel Cornet.
A tweet over the weekend from journalist Alan Nixon claimed that Leeds were looking into the possibility of signing the 24-year-old, with the French side reportedly wanting £20m for his services.
The defender has something of a history when it comes to Premier League teams, as he has scored four goals against Manchester City in their various Champions League meetings, including one in the 2019/20 quarter-finals as Pep Guardiola’s side were eliminated.
A versatile player who can play at left-back or on either wing, if he can cause a top team like Manchester City problems, just imagine what he could do playing against the rest of the division. It was no surprise, then, to see plenty of Leeds United fans were quite ecstatic to find themselves linked with such a player:
“He is too good for us. At least we should pay 80-90m for him.”
Are you happy to see Leeds spending large sums of money in the transfer market?
Signing a player like that would certainly act as a marker for Leeds and their intentions to progress after what was a remarkable season in 2020/21.
