Joe Wainman from the JustJoe Football Show has been reacting to the potential rumours that Leeds United could be close to securing the signature of Hertha Berlin winger Matheus Cunha.
Cunha, who can operate across numerous attacking positions but primarily plays out on the left for Hertha, scored eight goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit in 2020/21.
Reports over recent weeks have increased speculation that Cuhna could be lining up at Elland Road alongside fellow Brazilian Raphinha next season.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he had this to say on the potential deal:
“I’m going to start first of all with Matheus Cunha, obviously, the right-footed winger that can play in the CAM [position], from Hertha Berlin that we’ve been linked heavily with.
“Also, with Liverpool, we seem to be in a bit of a battle with Liverpool, it would seem, over certain transfer targets – obviously them being interested in our Brazilian, Raphinha. You know I’ve waxed lyrical about the potential of having two Brazilian wingers on either side of the pitch. I mean, it would be absolutely amazing.”

Judging by the reaction of Wainman, Cunha could be a potentially popular figure at Elland Road next season if a deal is able to be agreed upon.
It could be another fantastic coup in the transfer market for Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds as they look to operate in their usual shrewd manner in the hope of building on last season’s impressive 9th-placed finish.
However, Wainman’s dream of having two Brazilians on either wing could be short-lived for Leeds fans even if they were to secure the signature of Cunha, and that’s due to the reported interest in Raphinha that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are showing – meaning it could be one in, one out in terms of South American wingers at Leeds this summer if those reports come to fruition.
