BBC commentator Adam Pope has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about Pete Lowy’s appointment to the board and what he could bring to the club.
Lowy is a lifelong Leeds fan and was added to the board last month.
In his first interview, he made it clear how much he loved the club, and Pope thinks that Lowy will help with the new infrastructure that the club intend to build.
He said: “The Lowy family have been interested in Leeds for a long time, as far as I understand. We know they’ve got big links with football in Australia. He’s based out in the USA now and has been a self-confessed Leeds United fan for years.
“Clearly, he is a supporter, and there’s that video; we’ve got him on the pitch two hours before kick-off, walking around with the rest of the new board members and with Andrea Radrizzani looking around like a kid in a sweet shop.
“He’s going to use that expertise to help, I would say, in the infrastructure improvements that are going to be huge. We’re going to see a very different Elland Road over the next five years, if things go to plan. Is he going to accelerate it? I think he was just always going to be part of it.”
Do you think Lowy will do a good job?
Yes, he is the right man
No, I don't trust him
TIF Thoughts on Lowy…
Lowy is known for building huge superstore complexes, so it would make sense if he were involved in expanding Elland Road or anything else in that department.
We think this all must be very exciting for Lowy considering he is a huge Leeds fan, and we look forward to seeing what he does while he is with the Whites.
