Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This Is Futbol in an exclusive interview that £15m is a good price for West Brom’s Matheus Pereira.

Pereira looks set to leave West Brom this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship, and Leeds are said to be one of many sides who are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

According to a recent TEAMtalk report, it will cost around £15m to get Pereira out of the Baggies, which would be good business in Palmer’s eyes.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about Leeds’ reported interest in Pereira and the Brazilian attacker’s rumoured price tag, Palmer said:

“I think it’s a good price and he’s a good player. The problem West Brom are going to have is the wage bill going down and players of his calibre wanting to play in the Premier League.”

Pereira finished the 2020/21 Premier League campaign with 11 goals and six assists. He also averaged the most key passes per game in West Brom’s squad (1.8), while only Grady Diangana (1.3) averaged more dribbles than the former Sporting Lisbon man (1.2, stats per WhoScored).

Ultimately, based on the season that has just gone, Pereira looks like he would be a terrific attacking addition to Leeds’ squad.
