Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts on a claim to emerge surrounding Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Spurs missed out on signing the French international before he made the switch to Atletico Madrid in 2014 from Real Sociedad (via Transfermarkt).

However, the report claims the Lilywhites missed out on the forward as a result of Daniel Levy refusing to pay the £30m release clause Griezmann had at La Real.

The 30-year-old is now playing his football at Barcelona as a World Cup winner and has netted 155 goals in his 389 La Liga appearances for Atleti, Real Sociedad and Barca combined (via Transfermarkt).

And Spurs fans flocked to the tweet from The Spurs Express, relaying the report, with many slamming their chairman for his involvement in the reported deal.

“When will it end”

Spurs currently sit in seventh place of the Premier League table having tasted defeat in Yorkshire on the weekend to Leeds United.

Going by the reaction of these Spurs fans, it is apparent they are frustrated by their chairman having allowed such a talent to escape their grasp for the sake of just £7m.
