On the latest edition of The Molineux View podcast, Tim Spiers has been discussing all things related to the Midlands club ahead of their game against Everton on Wednesday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side suffered another defeat on the weekend against Tottenham Hotspur which saw them remain four points off 11th-placed Aston Villa.

Should Wolves sell Traore this summer?

One player which Spiers pointed out as impressing in the defeat in north London was Adama Traore, who received a 6.8 rating from WhoScored despite the loss.

Traore has had a turbulent season at Molineux this year. The Spaniard’s numbers have certainly taken a dive this season with just five league goal involvements to his name – a much lower figure than the 13 from the 2019/20 season.

The winger has been the subject of transfer speculation ahead of the summer window and Spiers commented on his future with two years left on his current deal.

He said (34:30): “Some things to pick out – one, contract talks have been reopened with Adama Traore as we reported in November.

“They had stalled with Traore not happy with the offer on the table and wanting to be one of the club’s highest earners.

“So those talks have now resumed. I mean, there is still that difference of opinion. Traore wants to be one of the best-paid players in the squad. Wolves don’t quite see it that way. However, there is a desire to get a contract done.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore’s future…

Traore impressed many last season as he seemed to take a huge step forward in proving he has a good end product and is capable of more than just beating his man with his pace.

However, this season has seen a huge decline in his numbers which makes us question whether Wolves should go all out to try and keep him at Molineux.

Spiers has already stated Wolves need to sell to buy this summer and if that is the case then perhaps Traore is the main man they could look to offload to create some transfer funds. So it may not be a surprise if the winger does depart.
