Journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest Youtube video about all things related to Tottenham Hotspur following their defeat to Leeds United last weekend.

One topic of discussion was potential candidates to fill the vacant role as permanent manager at Spurs following the sacking of their former boss, Jose Mourinho.

Do you want Pochettino back at Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

A name that was brought up in conversation was that of Mourinho’s predecessor, Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently managing Paris Saint Germain.

The Argentine manager has had his future questioned by some with the Parisians three points off top spot in Ligue 1 with just two games remaining.

However, Gold has admitted a return for Pochettino would be highly unlikely despite comments from the 49-year-old previously admitting he wants to return to manage Spurs.

Gold said (47:42): “As far as I understand, Spurs and Poch and all that haven’t had any chats about potentially coming back.

“I think it’s probably too soon, you know, especially if you’re sacked, you don’t want to bounce straight back into your last job just because it’s comfortable.

“I think he probably needs to put a little bit more distance between him and Tottenham for a few years. As he said himself, I think he will come back one day. But you know, just coming back less than two years later, all the same problems are still going to be there.”

“No I can’t see that one myself. Who knows? Who knows? He could certainly get sacked and then Spurs suddenly think you know what? Our ideal profile is Pochettino and he thinks, ‘oh I just want to come home, I’m sad and all that’. I don’t know. But from what I’m told at this moment, I don’t think it is going to be Poch.”

TIF Thoughts on Pochettino’s future…

Sacking Pochettino after just a matter of months at the helm would seem incredibly harsh, even if they do fail to get their hands on the Ligue 1 trophy.

The Argentine was only appointed as the manager in January and although PSG has an incredible side surely he deserves to be given the funds to put his stamp on the squad this summer?

Stranger things have certainly happened in football, but we do not see Pochettino facing the chop this summer if he is unable to guide his side to the Ligue 1 crown.
