Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting on Twitter after Graeme Souness slated Harry Kane recently, accusing him of harming the Premier League through his diving.

The Sky Sports pundit claimed the English top-flight will lose its ‘number one’ status in world football if the likes of Kane carrying on ‘cheating’, accusing the 27-year-old of ‘throwing himself to the ground’.

On the weekend’s instalment of Super Sunday (as reported by HITC), Souness claimed the England international’s actions could have some serious consequences.

“I think we are, at least, a year into a very slippery slope with the Premier League losing its number one spot in world football because of that kind of play you are describing,” said the retired Liverpool legend.

“I accept it happens. None of us like it. It seems to become more and more acceptable. You mention Harry Kane, who I am an enormous fan of, he is your England captain. He now throws himself to the ground.”

However, it’s clear that the Spurs fans disagree with Souness and feel the 67-year-old is perhaps being left behind by the modern game.

“How does this man still have a job? Baffles me”

@Ross_Golby

“Surely it’s time to put Souness out to pasture! The man is a complete dinosaur! His views are now irrelevant in the modern game. In fact, there should be a complete cull of Sky Sports pundits!”

@Will0770

“So do nearly all top footballers in the league and in other leagues. It’s how it is now, calling out specific names does nothing”

@RamoBall

“Sky’s agenda against spurs is getting ridiculous.. time for a shifting of the old guard, more new pundits needed.”

@Drew1Mark

“Why does he always hold a grudge against Harry Kane?”

@ProudCockerel

“This guy just has no idea does he”

@HeungMin_Daddy

“Souness has a serious agenda with Kane -he’s been trying to sell him on live tv all season, he once mentioned him leaving 15 mins into coverage of a match that didn’t even involve spurs.”

@danloton77

Kane has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, bagging 31 goals and providing 16 assists in 45 appearances, but has been cited for dangerously backing into opponents mid-flight earlier in the campaign.
