Celtic podcaster Euan Davidson has recently talked about the club’s links with a move for Joshua King.

Davidson came on as a guest on the latest video of the 67HailHail Youtube channel and Celtic legend Jackie McNamara was also part of the panel. They talked about potential Celtic transfers and one player that Davidson talked about was King.

He believes that the Norwegian could be a ‘useful’ option for the Bhoys, especially since next potential Celtic boss Eddie Howe has worked with him at Bournemouth.

The Hoops were linked with a move for King some weeks ago, as it was stated that Howe would look at potentially reuniting with the former Bournemouth man at Parkhead.

King was reportedly eyed as a potential replacement for Odsonne Edouard, with the Norwegian said to be earning £45,000 a week at Goodison Park.

Davidson talked about King and said (9:53): “There’s players like Joshua King who can play off that left side – he’s someone that Eddie Howe’s familiar with, again provided that we get Howe and the whole caveat attached to that. He’s someone that could be potentially useful.”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

TIF Thoughts on King to Celtic…

King’s current deal at Everton runs out in the summer transfer window, which means that he’ll be available on a free transfer.

He has valuable Premier League experience, having played well over 150 games in the top flight and scoring 48 goals as well (as per Transfermarkt).

It shows that he certainly does have a favourable CV for a club like Celtic and his record under Howe at Bournemouth was pretty decent as well. Having said that, Celtic’s highest earner is currently Scott Brown, who earns £25,000 per week. King’s current contract sees him earn a lot more. So affording the Norwegian’s wages could be a big problem.
