Former Rangers ace Michael Ball has claimed it’s ‘no surprise’ that Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in Ryan Kent ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old winger has impressed for Steven Gerrard’s side this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions as the Glasgow giants secured their 55th league title.

An entertaining 4-1 win over the weekend in the Old Firm derby kept Rangers’ hopes of an unbeaten season alive, and Kent’s magnificent displays have reportedly caught the eye of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United in particular.

According to The Sun, the Elland Road outfit are interested in reviving their interest in the pacey attacker in the coming months, with a £15m bid being prepared, and Ball admitted the revelation has not come as a shock in an exclusive interview with Football Fan Cast.

He said: “It’s no surprise that big clubs in the Premier League are looking at him but Rangers will want a big fee, he’s a key player for them, they won’t let him walk away cheaply.”

TIF Thoughts on Kent…

The Liverpool academy graduate has played a pivotal part in Rangers’ title victory this season, as his impressive 7.40 WhoScored rating shows.

Kent’s current contract still has two years left to run on it, and with a market value of £7.2m (as per Transfermarkt), Ball could well be correct in his assessment as Gerrard’s men are likely to demand a high price.

However, whether he would want to depart is up for debate. Kent has the opportunity to win more titles and potentially play in the Champions League at Ibrox if he stays at Rangers, something he is less likely to achieve with Leeds, in our view.
