Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Premier League midfielder Lee Hendrie has knocked back the idea of Bournemouth’s Jack Wilshere joining Celtic.

While there is nothing to suggest that the Glasgow outfit are currently interested in the 29-year-old, he has been linked with a move to Scottish football in the past.

He is also a player that some Celtic fans have urged the club to sign before, with a section of supporters feeling that he could have been good business on a free transfer following his release from West Ham last year.

Is Brown past it?

Wilshere could once again be a free agent this summer, with his contract at Bournemouth set to expire at the end of next month. For Hendrie, though, it is not something he would explore if he was in charge at Celtic.

On the former Arsenal man, who Roy Keane once called the “most overrated player on the planet”, the Sky Sports pundit told TIF in an exclusive interview:

He hasn’t really established himself at Bournemouth and, you know, he’s been in and out the team.

I don’t think he’d be one that I would certainly be looking at taking particularly. He’s gone into the Championship and I think people have always labelled the Championship as a similar sort of level as the Scottish Premiership, so you’ve got to ask yourself would he fit the bill?

“I’m not too sure about that. And that’d be a big, big question mark for me, if he would fit the bill up at Celtic.”

With Scott Brown no longer an option for the club, you would expect the Bhoys to bring in at least one midfielder this summer as they look to fill what is going to be a massive gap in their squad.
