Frank McAvennie has exclusively told This is Futbol that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is good enough to play for anyone in the world.

The Frenchman has been Celtic’s talisman in recent seasons, scoring almost 100 goals in the four years since arriving initially on loan from PSG.

Edouard has continued his impressive goal record at Parkhead this term, netting 20 times in all competitions, although McAvennie has accused the striker for a lack of effort.

He’s been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent months, including Arsenal and Leicester, with his Hoops deal running out next summer.

Edouard scored eight times across a six-game period in January and February, but went on a five-match goalless streak before his strike against Rangers on Sunday, and the former Celtic frontman has warned him that his form could cost him a move away from Paradise.

“He’s like an enigma. I really do think he’s such a good player, he could go anywhere. But he’s gone backwards this year – £30m to £10m.

“He’s a wonderfully talented player and could go to the top, but I don’t know where his head is at. The biggest problem for me this year is managers are not going to want players this year if they’ve downed tools.”
