Celtic are reportedly chasing Siriki Dembele, and Peterborough Town’s Director of Football Barry Fry has spoken exclusively to This is Futbol about his future, and he admits that it is unlikely that the winger will sign a new contract this summer.

Dembele was a standout player for Peterborough this season as he helped them earn promotion to the Championship automatically and he even earned himself a place in the League One Team of the Season.

Will Celtic sign Dembele?

Yes!

No!

No!

There have been strong rumours linking Dembele away with a move to Celtic this summer as he enters his final 12 months of his deal, and with no sign of him wanting to commit his future to Posh.

Dembele scored 11 goals and registered 12 assists this season which is why there is a lot of interest in Dembele, and Fry told This is Futbol it’s unlikely he will sign a new deal:

He’s got a year left on his contract and we’ve made him what we consider to be a lucrative offer but there has been a lot of interest in him, and I don’t think he’ll sign a new contract with us.

The club’s policy is if you’re in the last year of your contract, and the club offerscontract and you refuse it, we put you on the transfer list. We’ve had bids worth millions for Dembele and rejected them.”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Whoever ends up getting the vacant Celtic job will know they have a rebuilding job on their hands and Dembele could add some much-needed flair and attacking intent.

Dembele requested a transfer from his previous club, Grimsby Town, which led to Peterborough buying the winger in 2017 and since then his stock and interest in him has only increased.
