Pundit Tam McManus has recently talked about the possibility of Odsonne Edouard leaving Celtic to join Leicester City.

McManus was a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and he was asked about Edouard and his potential Parkhead exit in the summer.

He believes that Leicester City were poor in their loss to Newcastle in the Premier League, and that with Jamie Vardy not having had a great season, a partnership involving Edouard and Kelechi Iheanacho could be a very effective one for the Foxes.

Will Celtic earn more than £20 million from Edouard's sale?

It has been recently claimed that Edouard is set for a move to Leicester in the summer, as the Foxes have beaten Liverpool and West Ham in the race to sign the Frenchman. He was also linked with clubs like Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in the past (as per TeamTalk).

McManus feels that Edouard does tick a lot of boxes for Leicester and Celtic could get anything between £15-£20 million from his sale.

The pundit said (24:30): “I watched Leicester the other day against Newcastle, they were dreadful. Jamie Vardy’s not been good at all this season. So I think they’re maybe looking to maybe phase him out and bring a younger striker in and I think Edouard ticks a lot of boxes. He’s young, he’s hungry, he’s talented.

“Brendan knows what he’s like, knows what he’s like off the pitch. That wouldn’t surprise me. Iheanacho and Edouard would be some strike force in that league. I don’t know what the fee is going to be, whatever Celtic can hold out for.

“I think Edouard’s not had a great season, to be honest. So I think his stock’s maybe dropped a little bit. Could be anything between £15 – £20 million. I think that Celtic would take it, [the player] clearly wants to leave.”

TIF Thoughts on Tam McManus’ comments on Odsonne Edouard…

While Edouard has scored 21 times in all competitions for the Hoops, his non-penalty goals per 90 minutes tally has taken a hit this season in the Premiership. It stands at only 0.49, which is his lowest tally out of all the seasons that he has spent at Parkhead (as per FBRef).

Considering the number of clubs after him and since Leicester City can still qualify for the Champions League, Celtic should perhaps use those factors and demand as much as they can for Edouard’s sale. It’ll help them bring in the best possible replacement soon.
