Pundit Gordon Dalziel has recently talked about potential uncertainties involving Celtic’s pre-contract signing Liam Shaw.

Dalziel appeared as a guest on the latest episode of Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and while they talked about Rangers’ signing of Fashion Sakala, they also gave their opinion on Celtic’s pre-contract signature of Liam Shaw earlier in the campaign.

Dalziel believes that Shaw is wondering what the future holds for him at Parkhead because he’s coming to a club with multiple uncertainties.

The Hoops are looking for a new manager, Peter Lawwell set to retire soon, Nick Hammond has left already and the Hoops will lose Scott Brown soon enough to Aberdeen.

Dalziel feels that because of these uncertainties at the club, Shaw would be thinking about his future – especially since he came through under Neil Lennon and Nick Hammond’s tenure and both are now not at the club.

The pundit said: “Liam Shaw was signed, now this will be interesting. Because Liam Shaw was signed under a different managerial regime – when Nick Hammond was in charge of recruitment and Neil Lennon was in charge of the first-team.

“So Liam Shaw, I’m quite sure is wondering what the future holds for him. He’s coming in on a pre-contract to a club that nobody else has joined so far for next season. There’s doubts about who’s going to be about, the chief exec’s leaving, the manager’s gone, the captain’s leaving in two game’s time. Nobody knows what’s happening to the assistant manager or half a dozen or more of the team.”

TIF Thoughts on Liam Shaw…

While Dalziel is right to point out that Shaw might arrive at Celtic when a completely new era under a new manager starts, but the youngster is only 20-years-old right now. On top of that, he’s also a versatile player since he can play in midfield and at centre-back.

With Brown leaving, Shaw could add depth in midfield. Shane Duffy has been sent back to Brighton & Hove Albion, with doubts about Kristoffer Ajer’s future, as well. Christopher Jullien remains injured too. So there are spots in defence that Shaw can potentially fill. So perhaps, Celtic shouldn’t worry about Shaw for next season.
