Journalist and pundit Peter Martin has recently made a claim about Celtic transfers and tipped them to sign Lewis Ferguson.

Martin was hosting the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Scottish football and Celtic.

When talking about Hoops’ transfers, Martin made it clear that the club made a blunder in not signing John McGinn when he was at Hibs but Ferguson at Aberdeen is a player that they should sign, even though his relatives played for the Gers.

Celtic had multiple bids rejected for McGinn when the Scotsman was at Hibernian. He ended up joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2018.

Ferguson, though, is a regular for Aberdeen and he’s played regularly for the Dons over the last few campaigns. He is currently valued at £2.7m.

When talking about Ferguson and McGinn, Martin claimed: “They made a blunder in not getting John McGinn. But if I was looking at the recruitment of the best of somebody in Scotland that I thought could come in and do a really good job, can mix it up a bit, I would go out and get Lewis Ferguson.

“I’ve been consistent about that for the last year. I don’t care about some people who don’t like the fact that his two brothers played for Rangers. I’d go out and get him. He’s the kind of player I like, just a wee bit about him.”

TIF Thoughts on Ferguson…

Lewis is the son of Derek Ferguson and the nephew of Barry Ferguson and both of them played for Rangers during their playing days. But Barry Ferguson has already stated that young Lewis might be open to joining Celtic and he’s his own man.

Celtic are losing Scott Brown at the end of the season and Marseille have the option to sign Olivier Ntcham permanently in the summer as well. Ismaila Soro has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham too. On top of that, Celtic are set to undergo a summer overhaul.

Ferguson has Premiership experience, so it won’t be a bad idea to make sure that Ferguson becomes part of this overhaul.
