Daily Mail journalist John McGarry has discussed Leicester City’s interest in a potential move for Odsonne Edouard.

The Celtic striker Edouard was one main talking point on the latest episode of The Celtic Huddle podcast and journalist McGarry was asked about information regarding the Frenchman’s future.

McGarry stated that Edouard has made it clear to Celtic that he won’t extend his contract and Leicester have also been clear about their intentions to sign him in the summer.

Would you like it if Edouard reunites with Rodgers at Leicester?

Leicester have indeed been linked with a move for Edouard in the past, with Arsenal also reported to be interested in the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster. Leicester are believed to be long-term admirers of the Frenchman, with Brendan Rodgers keen on a reunion.

McGarry feels that everything points towards Edouard heading to the King Power in the summer, unless something unusual happens.

He claimed (14:29): “Apparently from the word go here, Edouard has made it clear that he’s not interested in talking about a new contract. Therefore, this is the time you have to sell him. Leicester have made it clear they’re very keen to sign him.

“There are other teams involved, but I don’t think that situation has changed. The relationship between the player and the manager, it points towards [Edouard] moving to Leicester unless something comes completely out of the blue.”

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

TIF Thoughts on Edouard…

While Edouard has been active on the goalscoring front this season in the Premiership, he has scored only 0.49 non-penalty goals this season. That is the lowest tally out of any of the seasons that he has played at Celtic (as per FBRef).

It shows that his performances have dropped off this season. Apart from Leicester and Arsenal, the likes of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have also drawn links with the striker. So Celtic should perhaps make use of the interest to earn a high fee from Edouard sale.
