Pundit and former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has revealed some transfer information regarding the future of Odsonne Edouard.
While Edouard has been linked heavily with a move to Leicester City in recent days, Wilson hosted the latest episode of The Celtic Huddle podcast and he delivered some news about the Frenchman’s future.
The pundit revealed that Aston Villa have now joined the list of potential suitors for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain youngster and as a result, there is now more interest in Edouard from the Premier League.
Will Edouard join Villa?
It has been stated that Edouard is set to join Leicester, who have beaten off interest from the likes of Liverpool and West Ham.
Wilson talked about Edouard and said (27:25): “Before we get to the results, we can reveal [what] we said about Edouard – transfer news. We can reveal he’s also a target for Aston Villa, that’s came to light now. So that adds to the interest from other clubs down south, mainly Leicester.”
During his time at the Parkhead club, the 23-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.5 million, has made 166 appearances for Celtic in which he has managed to score 82 goals, prior to their midweek SPFL clash against St. Johnstone.
TIF Thoughts on Edouard to Villa…
The fact that Villa are now interested in Edouard shows that the list of suitors continues to increase for the Frenchman and that should be considered a positive for Celtic, considering that the striker’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022.
Because of that, the upcoming summer would be Celtic’s best chance of getting a good fee from Edouard’s sale and to do that, they should make the most of the interest in the player.
