Journalist Alison McConnell has recently made a claim about Celtic’s potential interest in St. Johnstone man Ali McCann.
McConnell appeared on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed many issues surrounding Scottish football and Celtic. One player that McConnell talked about was McCann, the journalist believes that there will be interest in the 21-year-old during the summer transfer window and Celtic are one of the clubs who are keeping an eye on the Northern Ireland man.
Should Celtic approach St. Johnstone to sign McCann?
Yes
No
McCann, having won the Scottish League Cup already, the midfielder has been a regular part of the side which has reached the Scottish Cup final (as per Transfermarkt).
McConnell talked about Celtic’s potential interest in McCann and said (12:30): “Ali McCann is another one [that caught her eye], he’s a young player who I would expect there might be quite a bit of interest in this summer. I think Celtic have been linked with him, I think they’ve watched him a few times.”
TIF Thoughts on McCann to Celtic…
McCann has made 31 Premiership appearances this season, contributing to a total of four goals by majorly playing as a central midfielder. He has picked up a rating of 6.78 during this time (as per Whoscored).
Only five St. Johnstone players have picked up a better rating than the 21-year-old, which shows that he’s certainly had a good season.
Celtic are losing Scott Brown to Aberdeen next season and Marseille have the option to buy Olivier Ntcham permanently too, so the Hoops might need more depth in midfield next season and since McCann has a decent amount of Premiership experience, he might not be a bad addition to the side.
