Former Celtic ace John Hartson has recently talked about Odsonne Edouard and his future at the club.

Hartson appeared on the latest episode of Go Football Radio and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Celtic following their 4-1 loss in the Old Firm derby.

One topic of discussion was potential Celtic exits in the summer and one player that Hartson talked about was Edouard. The former Celtic star believes that the Frenchman has been close to leaving the club in the past and he will move on in the summer.

Premier League side Everton have been linked with a move for Edouard recently. In the past, the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester have been linked with the striker.

Hartson believes that Celtic have held on to Edouard with a piece of string for far too long and it’s time that he departs now.

He stated (35:36): “We will not be able to keep Edouard, we’ve held on to Edouard with a piece of string really, to be honest with you. He’s been so close to leaving. I think his time will come, he will move on.”

TIF Thoughts on Edouard’s future…

Ligue 1 side Monaco tried to sign Edouard as far back as the January of 2020, but Celtic rejected their approach for the Frenchman. Even Borussia Dortmund tried to sign him before they signed Erling Haaland.

This shows that Edouard might not be attracting interest from just English clubs, but from clubs across Europe.

That should be a good sign for the Bhoys, as it might allow them a higher chance of getting a big fee from his sale. He has been a regular source of goals at the club in recent seasons and that can help the Hoops increase his valuation.
