Lots of Celtic have been talking about the latest tweet from the club’s official account that emerged on social media.

The Celtic Twitter account posted about David Turnbull recently, confirming that the midfielder has been awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year award. The tweet congratulated the former Motherwell midfielder and it also had Turnbull’s image on it.

While Turnbull has won this accolade, he was also in the running for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year award. He failed to win that though, as Hibernian youngster Josh Doig picked up that accolade.

Did Turnbull deserve the award?

The midfielder had joined Celtic from Motherwell in the summer, but the move came about 13 months after his initial transfer to Parkhead had failed because of an injury.

The tweet about Turnbull drew the attention of many Celtic fans, who were buzzing about it.

What did Celtic fans make of the club’s tweet?

“Well done David. The only positive from this season.

“He’s been class this season , him , Ajer, Soro and Elyounoussi are the only ones worthy of the Celtic top this season.

“Need to build the team around this boy @10DavidTurnbulland offer him a 5 year #CelticFC.”

“We should be building the squad around him. Exciting times ahead”

Even though this is Turnbull’s first season at Celtic, only five Hoops players have picked up a higher rating than him in the campaign (As per Whoscored).
