Pundit Davie Provan has recently talked about the situation of Celtic star defender Kristoffer Ajer.

Provan appeared as a guest on the Go Radio Football Show recently and the panel talked about many things involving Celtic and Scottish football.

One player that Provan focused on was Ajer.

The pundit believes that the Norwegian’s representatives are trying to create an auction-like situation for his sale and they’re pretty good at discussing interest in the player with the media. Provan also believes that the defender will leave and Celtic are sure to miss him.

Do you think there's a chance of Ajer staying?

Ajer changed his agents back in June 2020, as he joined up with SEG. In recent weeks, the defender has been linked with a move to Norwich City and Premier League outfit Newcastle.

Provan made it clear that it would be ‘terrific’ if Ajer ends up staying because he’s at an age where Celtic can get quality service from him.

The ex-Hoops hero stated: “It would be terrific for Celtic if Ajer decided he wanted to stay because he’s at an age where Celtic would get some terrific service out of him. I just think the noise that has been coming from Ajer’s camp and I know he’s changed agent and they’re pretty good at putting interest in the player in the paper and in the media.

“Appears to me that his representatives have been trying to get an auction going here. And I think he’ll be on his way and Celtic will miss him.”

TIF Thoughts on Ajer’s future…

It has been stated that while Norwich are scouting Ajer and Newcastle are interested, Leicester City are also one of the potential suitors for the defender.

So much interest in the Norwegian should come as good news for Celtic, especially since Ajer’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and the summer of 2021 might be Celtic’s best chance of earning a good fee from his sale.

Because of that, Celtic could use the interest from other clubs to earn as much as they can for Ajer, so that they can find a proper replacement.
