Fans of Celtic have been reacting on Twitter after a post revealed Eddie Howe is set to be appointed as the club’s new manager.

The Hoops have been searching for a permanent successor to Neil Lennon ever since the Northern Irishman resigned back in February following a 1-0 defeat to Scottish Premiership minnows Ross County.

Will the Celtic job be too big for Howe?

Lennon’s former assistant John Kennedy has been in interim charge of the Glasgow giants ever since but has been unable to turn around the club’s fortunes during his tenure.

Several big names were linked with the Celtic Park vacancy, such as Rafael Benitez and Roberto Martinez, however, according to TalkSport, the club’s hierarchy have opted for former Bournemouth boss Howe.

The 43-year-old has been out of work since suffering relegation with AFC Bournemouth last season, but his proposed appointment has gone down well with the supporters.

“Really looks like Howe will be in soon”

“Oh please say it’s true?!!!!”

“In more important news than silly books… Eddie Howe has took over at Celtic!!!! The Eddie Howe revolution begins!!!”

@jamieboyle10

“Hopefully it’s confirmed asap then if this is true”
“Top choice.”

Howe will be tasked with closing the 23-point gap to fierce rivals Rangers if he does join Celtic this summer in what should make for an interesting title tussle with Steven Gerrard’s side.
