TalkSport pundit Jason Cundy thinks that Southampton forward Danny Ings would be a ‘perfect’ match for West Ham United this summer.

Ings, valued at £19.8m on Transfermarkt, bagged his 12th & 13th goals in all competitions last night as the Saints came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-1.

The England international’s future has been thrown into some doubt in recent months following a ‘stalemate’ over his contract that is set to expire next summer. That has made a number of clubs, including Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur take an interest in signing him at some point.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

West Ham United are another team that have supposedly shown an interest in him, and as heard on the TalkSport Daily podcast (4:20), Cundy feels that a move to the London Stadium would be a great move for him to make:

“There is a place for him in a team higher up than Southampton. He’s too good to be playing for a side that’s threatened by relegation. I don’t know whether he’s going to be big enough to do it at that level [Champions League]. I think Champions League football is what he needs, for my money, needs to have proven himself in.

“I think West Ham’s perfect. He will score goals in whatever team you put him in. He will score goals. West Ham feels a nice fit, doesn’t it?”

Do you think there is any chance that West Ham could land the signing of Danny Ings?

TIF Thoughts on Jason Cundy’s comments about Danny Ings and Southampton

It’s no secret that West Ham United need a new man up top, a position they are incredibly thin at, and with the possibility of European football on the horizon, that need for additional options is going to be even greater.

And Ings’ goal record over the years has proven just how effective he can be for a team where he can be the main man, as he would be at West Ham compared to being a rotational player at Liverpool.

So those two factors would back up Cundy’s theory, it’s now just a case of whether West Ham decide to make a move for him this summer.
