West Ham United journalist Roshane Thomas has been sharing his thoughts on Hammers winger Jarrod Bowen and what next season could hold for the Englishman.

This comes after Thomas made an appearance on a recent episode of The Athletic’s West Ham-themed podcast U Irons where he spoke about a range of subjects concerning the east London side.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

On the topic of next season and which players could stand out for the Hammers during it, Thomas had this to say on the matter. (13.46)

He said: “I’ll just say there’s one player I’m really looking forward to [seeing] next season and that’s Bowen, because he scored eight goals in the league right and if we’re being truthful, he’s been alright, but there’s definitely another level to his game.

“And had Bowen been more consistent, I’m of the opinion he would have been in contention for this England squad I have that much faith in him, so I think he’s going to reach another level for West Ham next season.

“I know the cliche thing it feels like a new signing, and I definitely feel that’ll apply to Bowen for next season.”

West Ham signed Bowen back in the 2020 January transfer window from Hull City for a fee of £19.17 million.

Since arriving at The London Stadium, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £27 million, has made 53 appearances for the Hammers in which he has managed to score nine goals and provide 10 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Roshane Thomas’ comments on Bowen…

Despite the goals and assists Bowen managed to provide for West Ham in the Premier League this season, as Thomas mentioned in the podcast, the fact that he only managed to earn himself a fairly respectable overall season rating of 6.75/10, makes it understandable why Thomas thinks the winger can step it up another level next season in a similar way Jesse Lingard (7.22/10) and Michail Antonio (7.17/10) did this season.
