Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video about all things Spurs-related following their victory against Leicester City.

One topic of discussion was the potential return of their former and current Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Would you like Pochettino back this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The 49-year-old has been recently linked with a potential return to the north London club with the Argentine said to be unhappy in Paris.

Spurs are currently without a manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho which saw Ryan Mason take interim charge until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

In the video, Gold provided his understanding regarding the rumours surrounding the former Spurs manager amid the speculation linking him with a sensational return.

He said: “Poch has been heavily linked again. But as far as I’m aware, people at Spurs would love Poch back here, there’s no getting around it.

“He was such a popular figure there. And the way it all ended was just a complete mess. You know, I think everyone was in a bad place after losing the Champions League final. He was not the Pochettino that started out at Spurs.”

TIF Thoughts on a possible Pochettino return…

Gold suggests Pochettino is a well-respected figure at Tottenham and not only by the fans. According to reports, Daniel Levy is looking for a new manager in the mould of his former Argentine coach.

We find it difficult to see a return for Pochettino this summer given he is currently still in a job at PSG and only took the role at the beginning of the year – surely PSG will give him another season?

However, he has made it publicly clear that he would very much welcome a return to the Lilywhites in the future and if the opportunity was there we would be interested to see if both parties would go for it.

It would certainly be a massive call from Levy to perform a U-turn having failed to turn the club’s fortunes around after swapping their former boss for Mourinho.
