A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on Twitter at the latest comments to emerge from journalist Alasdair Gold regarding their search for a new manager.

Spurs have been without a permanent manager since Daniel Levy sacked Jose Mourinho in April which then saw former midfielder Ryan Mason take interim charge until the end of the season.

Is Erik ten Hag your first choice for the job?

On Gold’s latest YouTube video, the Spurs journalist addressed reported target Erik ten Hag as Mourinho’s potential successor.

He said: “I can understand why the links are still there but I always thought his comments would [be] very hard to go back on if he walked to Tottenham but we’ll see, I don’t think you can entirely rule him out.”

Ten Hag is currently managing Ajax and had his contract extended by an extra year just last month – taking his contract to June 2023.

Spurs fans flocked to a tweet from The Spurs Express relaying the claim from Gold to share their thoughts on the matter.

What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?

“Surely the club have told him to say that to keep it on the low…”

Going by the reaction of these Spurs fans it is apparent they are hoping Gold is playing down the Ten Hag reports in the hope he is to become the next manager at the north London club.
