has been speaking on the latest edition of The Transfer Window podcast to discuss potential manager switches this summer, including the links between Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs.

One major talking point was Tottenham Hotspur and their search for a new permanent manager having sacked Jose in April.

Will Pochettino return to Spurs this summer?

Last week, it was reported former Spurs manager Pochettino was in talks over a stunning return to north London despite having only taken the job in January (via Transfermarkt).

However, it has also been reported that PSG are not willing to allow Pochettino to leave the club and have extended his contract by an extra year up until 2023.

On the topic, Castles provided insight into some inside knowledge he has on Pochettino’s reign at the Ligue 1 side.

He said: “I talked to some people at PSG earlier in the season when Pochettino had gone in to ask what their impressions of him were as a coach. I got a very interesting response, kind of unexpected response.

“One side of it was we like him as a person, his handling of individuals -to-man is very good. A likeable character.

“But tactically, as a coach, we’re not convinced. We don’t think he’s particularly improved matters. He’s not as good as we expected him to be.”

TIF Thoughts on Castles’ comments…

It is certainly interesting to hear Castles say this about the PSG hierarchy. Pochettino has only been at the club since the beginning of the year and has not even had a summer transfer market to put his stamp on the side.

However, if this is the case, then surely PSG would view this as a great opportunity to move on from Pochettino, with Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane both looking for a new job.

Since Castles made the comments, PSG have extended Pochettino’s stay and we are questioning whether this is their method of making sure they get every possible penny for Pochettino if he is to leave for Spurs, with his former club thought to be circling.
