TalkSport insider Alex Crook has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new manager.

Spurs haven’t had a lot of success when it comes to finding someone to replace Jose Mourinho, with targets Erik Ten Hag and Julian Nagelsmann both deciding to pursue other opportunities in management by staying at Ajax and moving to Bayern Munich respectively.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

As a result they have been forced to look elsewhere for their next boss, and have included more domestic targets such as Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Graham Potter and Fulham’s Scott Parker all being considered.

And speaking on the TalkSport Gameday podcast (43:01), Crook revealed that their interest in the Fulham boss is set to go one step further than just showing an interest, before offering up his doubts on Parker’s suitability for the job:

“Scott Parker, it was suggested to me will definitely be interviewed for that job. Is that the aisle Tottenham should be shopping down? Someone who’s just overseen his second relegation? I’m not sure.”

TIF Thoughts on Alex Crook’s comments about Scott Parker to Tottenham Hotspur

Crook is right to be concerned about Tottenham’s targets when it comes to the new boss. It should be pointed out that Fulham were 10 points from safety when he first took over, so to put the first relegation on him might be slightly harsh, but the point remains the same that Parker hasn’t really done much to prove his next jump should be to Spurs.

And if Tottenham really have the ambition to be a bigger club, then they should be looking to appoint someone who has the track record to back it up, rather than someone whose only silverware is a play-off final trophy.
