In an exclusive interview with This is Futbol, former Wigan Athletic manager, Paul Jewell, has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur fans would welcome Antonio Conte as their new manager – as long as he won games.

Conte is one of the latest managers to be linked with the Spurs job, despite just winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan, as Daniel Levy continues to search for Jose Mourinho’s successor.

Would Conte be a good appointment for Spurs?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Spurs had reportedly targeted Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann as potential candidates, however, all three appear to be unlikely appointments for different reasons.

Speaking on why Spurs fans would be fine with Conte as their manager and that all that matters is results, not past clubs managed, Jewell exclusively told This is Futbol:

I think supporters will soon forget his history if he is winning games, and if he goes in there and hits the ground running then nobody will care that he’s managed Chelsea, it’s only when results go against you that people bring that up.

“You’ll never be able to please everybody so sometimes you’ve got to do what you think is best for the football club, and that’s what Daniel Levy will do.”

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

There have been several names linked with the job and someone who has been recommended by chief scout, Steve Hitchen, is Brighton manager, Graham Potter.

It will be a big summer for Spurs as they look to appoint a new manager as well as attempt to keep Harry Kane at Tottenham without, what appears to be, Champions League footbal.
