Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was transfer plans and was asked about Olivier Ntcham, who was linked with a move to the Toon in January.

Ntcham has reportedly been released by Celtic and would therefore be available on a free transfer.

The Shields Gazette reporter certainly thinks the Toon can sign Ntcham, but he isn’t convinced he would add that much.

He said: “He was at Man City, he was up at Celtic; he went over to Marseille had a really bad loan spell from January onwards, they’re not going to take him up [and] he’s now a free agent this summer.

“Newcastle United are going to try and hoover up free agents, so I wouldn’t rule that move out. He was linked in January, was a player that they had a look at.

“Do I think he’d be a good signing? No, I’ve got grave doubts about whether he would add a lot, but I’m happy to be proved wrong if he does walk through the door.”

Do you think that Newcastle should sign Ntcham?

TIF Thoughts on Ntcham…

The 25-year-old made 147 appearances for Celtic in which he scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists, but if you compare his goal tally with Joe Willock, you can see that the 21-year-old scored eight goals for the Toon in 14 appearances.

So, if Newcastle see him as a Willock replacement, then they could be sadly mistaken.

Kennedy doesn’t seem convinced by Ntcham, and there were question marks over his attitude, so this could be one that the Toon might be better off avoiding.
