A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from The Chronicle asking them what they would think if Andy Carroll left the Toon this summer.
The 32-year-old’s deal with Newcastle expires in June, and according to the latest reports, he has not yet been offered new terms, and it is clear that these Toon fans hope that he isn’t offered a new deal.
“Pointless signing, he should never have been brought back in the 1st place, & giving him a 2nd year is laughable.”
“It’s going to be a long summer isn’t it”
“£20k a week cheerleader and over the last few months brought on to wind the clock down that’s what he’s been. Another mistake couldn’t make it up. Mind I think he fell out with Bruce maybe after Brighton as well.”
Is Carroll's time up?
Yes, he needs to move on
No, he could still do a job
Newcastle signed Carroll in the summer of 2019, and he went on to make 43 appearances and scored just one goal in his return to Tyneside, and it doesn’t look like he will be staying for another season.
This post continued to draw in many Toon fans who had their say.
“Send him to Sunderland.”
“Why would you? What’s he done this season to prove himself?”
“No..His time is up! Great lad but as a player not good enough.”
Carroll did provide a few assists in his return to Tyneside, but overall he really struggled for game time, particularly, in the 2020/21 season and it is no surprise to see these Newcastle fans happy to see Carroll leave if he isn’t offered a new deal.
