In an exclusive interview with This is Futbol, Newcastle United Hall of Famer, Rob Lee, admits he has been left disappointed with summer signing Ryan Fraser but acknowledges he has had a lot of injuries.

Fraser was signed as a free agent last summer from Bournemouth following their relegation to the Championship, but he had also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur before committing to the Magpies.

Has Fraser been a good signing for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Scotland international has only scored one goal for the Magpies which came in the Carabao Cup, whereas in the Premier League he has picked up more red cards than goals this season.

Speaking on how he has been disappointed with the winger and why his poor performances could be down to a number of things, Lee told This is Futbol:

I think he has been disappointing this season and I’ve said before that it could be down to a number of reasons such as a lack of form, playing in different positions and injuries.

It’ll be big for him next season because he needs to show the form that he had at Bournemouth, and I think he knows that.”

Easy one to get us underway, in what month during 2019 was Steve Bruce appointed Newcastle manager?

The former Bournemouth winger’s best run of games has been three, which he has achieved twice as injuries and fitness concerns continue to blight his first season on Tyneside.

Fraser was deployed as a split striker in Newcastle’s games against Aston Villa and Brighton, with the winger hitting the post against the Seagulls.
