Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Mike Ashley’s latest legal action against the Premier League over the proposed takeover of the Toon.

Ashley already has one legal case against the league, and now he has launched another based on Competition Law.

The Toon’s owner also asked the “dark forces” to move aside and let Newcastle become a great club again.

This led Ryder to provide his view on the situation. He said: (14:18) “It’s starting to get a little bit ugly between Mike Ashley and the Premier League now.

(14:37) “Newcastle have struggled to be a big side in the last ten years, and the only person that stopped that is the powers that be.

“They’ve had one European finish. They have spent money, but sometimes, the manager hasn’t matched with the players.

“Let’s be honest, the team we’ve got at the minute, you’ve got nearly £100m worth of forward players there.”

Do you think that Ashley will win at least one of his legal battles?

Yes, he will win one

TIF Thoughts on Ashley’s new plan…

Ashley is clearly desperate to sell the football club and has two different legal challenges against the Premier League to try and get this takeover through.

However, he has been the owner now since 2007, and in that time, Newcastle have been relegated from the Premier League twice, and he has made many questionable decisions.

So, if anything has been holding the football club back, then it is him. The Premier League might have refused to pass this proposed takeover, but that doesn’t excuse the years of misery and apathy on Tyneside caused by Ashley’s tenure.

We hope that his legal challenges are successful so the club can move forward, but he is no hero.
