Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Alan Shearer but how many goals did he score for the club?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Foxes are close to agreeing a deal for the 22-year-old, and he will cost them less than 30m Euros (£25.81m).

Soumare rejected the chance to join Newcastle in January 2020 despite the club using Allan Saint-Maximin in an attempt to convince Soumare, but he didn’t want to join, and now it looks like he will be moving to Leicester.

This has drawn the attention of these Toon fans who are not surprised by this news and the failure to sign Soumare.

Really good player. Shame ASM couldn’t sell him on the paddling pool and wheelie bin ice baths at the Newcastle training ground!”

@PhilipPeppiatt

The one we showed our amazing training facilities to and he turned us down, class stuff. Prime Newcastle United.”

@Tom_Proudfoot

Couldn’t get him over the line. Never heard that before.”

@JackJDees

Do you think that Soumare would ever have come to Newcastle?

No, not a chance

Yes, we could have got him

Yes, we could have got him

Soumare has been in decent form for Lille this season and averages a 6.75 league rating from WhoScored, which would make him the Toon’s seventh-best player.

However, this one looks to be a player that is going to slip away, and this news continued to draw in Newcastle fans who had their say.

That’s a steal”

@HoltzvonHoltzer

Ehh!”

@DeanDodds2

He’s exactly what we need, source – my FM save.”

It will be interesting to see if Soumare does join the Foxes, but even if he doesn’t, it looks like the Toon missed their chance to sign the Frenchman.
