Fred has often been trusted in the big games by Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer but former Red Devils winger, Keith Gillespie, has exclusively told This is Futbol that he doesn’t like him on the ball, especially compared to Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.

Bissouma has been touted with a move away from the Amex Stadium this summer following a string of impressive performances for the Seagulls as they fought off relegation for a third consecutive season.

Who is better?

Bissouma!

Bissouma!

Fred!

Fred!

The Mali international has achieved an impressive 6.99 WhoScored rating as well as winning 71 tackles, the second-most in the Premier League, and has featured in every single game he’s been available for in the league.

Fred, who reportedly earns £120,000-a-week, has got a lot of energy and willingness to get about the pitch whenever he plays but that is as far as his ability goes, that’s according to Gillespie, who exclusively told This is Futbol:

I’m not the biggest fan of Fred and I know he has a lot of energy but for me, that should be a given when you play in the centre of midfield.

I just think on the ball you can’t trust him because he just gives the ball away too much and really simple passes just don’t go to where they’re meant to be. Whereas Bissouma, I like the look of him on the ball as he’s tidy, has good feet and obviously has great energy as well.”

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

Bissouma was signed for a snip at £15 million as Graham Potter attracted him from Lille back in 2018 and since then he’s proved himself to be one of the most solid holding midfielders in the division.

Brighton have won plaudits for their attacking and possession-based style of play and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by other clubs, as Potter is reportedly Steve Hitchen’s number one recommendation to get the Tottenham Hotspur job.
