Riyad Mahrez has stepped up in the big games, specifically against PSG, and Paul Stewart, who spent just one season at Manchester City, has exclusively told This is Futbol that the Algerian winger deserves a new contract given his performances this season.

Mahrez was signed for £60m back in the summer of 2018 and since he switched Leicester City for Man City, he has won eight trophies and is set to play in his and the club’s first-ever Champions League final.

Does Mahrez deserve a new contract?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Algerian caught the eye of everyone in the Premier League during the Foxes’ title-winning season as his 17 goals and 10 assists were a driving force behind them clinching their first-ever Premier League crown.

There have been reports that Man City are set to open talks with Mahrez over a new deal and that is the least he deserves according to Stewart, who spoke exclusively to This is Futbol:

“He’s popped up with some crucial goals this season and at the moment he looks different class so I can see why Man City will want to offer him a new contract.

When he was at Leicester he was different class and towards the second half of this season, he has shown that he is a world-class player.”

Man City fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this City transfer quiz. According to Transfermarkt, a £68.4 million fee is the club's most expensive arrival, but which player cost this amount?

Just like N’Golo Kante, Mahrez was signed as an unknown player from France and after spending just £450,000 on him, the Foxes unearthed a real gem.

The £120,000 per week winger has been trusted to play in the big Champions League games this season, often keeping Raheem Sterling out of Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup.
