In an exclusive interview with This is Futbol, former Wigan Athletic and Derby County manager Paul Jewell has claimed that Kalvin Phillips is good enough to play for Manchester City.

Phillips has been in great form for Leeds United in what is his debut Premier League season which has led to Pep Guardiola reportedly identifying the midfielder as his number one target this summer.

Is Phillips good enough for Man City?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Guardiola will be looking for a new central midfielder this summer as Fernandinho’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and they will need more than just Rodri to play that holding role effectively.

Speaking on if Phillips is good enough to make the step up to Man City and how he would be even better with great players around him, Jewell exclusively told This is Futbol:

There’s no doubt about it that he’s a terrific footballer and he’s at a huge club in Leeds, but if Man City came calling and the price was right then who knows, but I think he is good enough to play for them.

His role would be much easier at City as he would have great players around him and that does make your job easier, but I think it would be a huge loss for Leeds.”

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

Leeds have relied on Phillips heavily this season to not only protect the back four but also link up the play between defence and attack as quickly as possible.

His form has been terrific this season which has seen him earn several England call ups and he currently has seven caps ahead of the European Championships this summer.
