Liverpool insider Grizz Khan has talked about the club’s interest in signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

Khan was a guest on the latest episode of the LFC DayTrippers podcast and the panel talked about numerous issues involving Liverpool and their potential transfer targets. One player that Khan focused on was Lyon’s Aouar.

Khan said that the 22-year-old Frenchman is someone that Liverpool have kept an eye on recently, irrespective of the fact that there have been some concerns about his attitude.

Do you think Aouar suits Liverpool?

The Lyon star was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, as the Gunners did make an offer for him which got rejected. Serie A giants Juventus have also been interested in Aouar in the past.

Khan talked about the former Arsenal target, confirming that Liverpool have scouted him multiple times in the past.

He stated (38:04): “I like your Houssem Aouar shout, I think we 100 percent are in for him. I think David Maddock did an article on how we’ve been scouting him for the last two or three years.

“But I will say he has not progressed as many would’ve expected. And also, [the] sporting director of Lyon was slightly unhappy with some of the antics, attitudes etc etc, which Klopp may look into. But I don’t think that would be a problem for any player under Jurgen Klopp.”

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

TIF Thoughts on Aouar to Liverpool…

Aouar contributed to ten Ligue 1 goals in the 2020/21 campaign but that was a decent tally, considering his previous record in the seasons prior to the current one (As per Transfermarkt).

Having said that, there has been talk of his decline this season, but a lot of the reasons behind that are said to be tactical. Liverpool could lose Naby Keita soon, meaning that they could lose a midfield option. Aouar’s value has dropped and he’s still young, so bringing the Frenchman to Anfield could be a decent option for the Reds.
