Liverpool must spend big this summer to close the gap on Manchester City, and former Red Paul Stewart believes that a midfielder will be purchased.
Jurgen Klopp currently has no less than eight players that’re able to play in a three-man midfield.
Do you think Liverpool have made a mistake not getting Wijnaldum to sign a new deal?
Yes
No
However, the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been strongly linked with Anfield exits, whilst James Milner turns 36 in January, and is not able to play regularly anymore.
Meanwhile, Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum is out of contract and recently confirmed that he’ll be leaving Liverpool, with a dream move to Barcelona on the cards.
That would Liverpool with just captain Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho and youngster Curtis Jones.
And after winning their final five Premier League matches to qualify for the Champions League for a fourth season on the bounce, Stewart is confident that Klopp will splash the cash in a bid to improve his midfield department.
He exclusively told This is Futbol:
“Liverpool will spend big on somebody in the midfield this summer.
“They were written off this season because of the injuries, but they’re in the Champions League, and they will see that as real success after everything that has happened, so I think they will spend big on a midfield player.”
