Liverpool journalist Joe Rimmer has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Nat Phillips leaving the Merseyside club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

This comes after Rimmer made an appearance on a recent episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a range of topics concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Phillips and his future with the Reds, Rimmer had this to say on the matter. (19.44)

He said: “I think he’ll probably move on this summer. I think it makes sense for him. It doesn’t make sense for him to stay at Liverpool another six months or a season and not play.

“I think he should strike now while his stock is high and get a good move and he deserves it. I was watching when he scored in the Burnley game the other day, you think he probably couldn’t do worse than go and play for Burnley and they could do worse and get someone like him, I think he’d fit in quite well.

“I think it’ll probably be on him, but I suspect he’ll leave Liverpool this summer just because now’s the right time for him to get a move.”

Phillips joined Liverpool’s U23 side back in the 2016 summer window on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers’ U23 squad.

Since then, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £4.5 million, has made 26 appearances for Liverpool’s U23s and 21 appearances for their senior side (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Joe Rimmer’s comments on a potential summer exit for Phillips…

Given how Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip set to return from long-term injuries and the fact that the Reds have recently confirmed the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from German club RB Leipzig, it appears that Phillips could have a struggle on his hands to get regular playing time next season.

Do you think Liverpool should sell Nat Phillips this summer?

No

In our view, for the benefit of his career, perhaps a move away from Liverpool this summer to a club where he would be guaranteed regular playing time would be the best option for the centre-back.
