Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Merseyside club making a potential summer transfer move for Fulham midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa.

This comes after Addison made an appearance on a recent episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he spoke about a number of players in the three relegated clubs that Jurgen Klopp’s side could potentially look at signing during the upcoming summer transfer window.

First up in this Mo Salah quiz, what is his current squad number for Liverpool?

On the subject of Anguissa, who has been mentioned with a possible move to Liverpool in the past as well as other Premier League clubs being reportedly interested in signing him this summer, Addison had this to say about the player. (21.05)

He said: “If Liverpool could get him on a cheaper deal, I think it would be certainly one to watch out for, he’s not maybe one that would stick in the minds of people who’ve watched Fulham, I know he’s not even been in Fulham’s first-choice XI at times this season, but there is just a bit of me that thinks maybe Liverpool could get a little bit more out of him.

“Maybe Jurgen Klopp could do more with him than what Scott Parker has and maybe Liverpool and Michael Edwards and sort of underlying numbers team at Liverpool could find something that maybe Fulham haven’t spotted.

“There’s definitely a reason why some of these Premier League clubs are taking a look at him.”

Fulham signed Anguissa back in the 2018 summer transfer window from French club Marseille for a fee of £22.37 million.

Since then, the 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £22.5 million, has gone on to make 61 appearances for Scott Parker’s side (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Matt Addison’s comments on Anguissa…

Given how Anguissa is currently Fulham’s highest-rated player with an overall season rating of 6.98/10 for his performances in the Premier League so far in this campaign, this makes it understandable why Addison has mentioned the midfield man with a potential move to Anfield this summer.

In our view, if current Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum does leave the club this summer when his deal expires, then Liverpool should look at signing someone to replace the Dutchman and Anguissa should be on the list of potential candidates based on his experience in the Premier League and his decent form this season.
