Aside from scoring a sensational FA Cup-winning goal, Youri Tielemans has been superb for Leicester City this season and it is not a surprise that they want the Belgian to put pen to paper on a new deal, according to former Foxes defender Steve Howey.

Should Tielemans stay at Leicester?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Belgian put in a string of stand out performances this season which saw him earn a WhoScored rating of 7.09 and with reported interest from Manchester United, the Foxes will be eager to keep the 24-year-old at the club.

This season Tielemans has been in a league of his own at the King Power Stadium and his willingness to constantly look to move the ball forward with 206 progressive passes, was pivotal in Leicester finishing in the top five.

His stunning goal at Wembley against Chelsea will have made people sit up and realise his ability, despite it being what he does in the middle of the pitch that makes him so special, but Howey is not surprised to see the Foxes wanting to offer him a new and improved deal.

He told This is Futbol:

“He holds down the midfield very well and obviously scored a great goal in the cup final. I’ve watched him a couple of times when he’s played against England for Belgium and you have to say he’s a very good player.

I’m not surprised that they are offering him a new deal and Leicester just seem to have this ability to get some quality midfield players in.”

To kick off this quiz on Leicester City's 2019/20 season, who is the only outfield player to have appeared in all 38 of the Foxes' Premier League games in the 2019/20 campaign?

Tielemans was creating a lot of noise in Belgium during his time with RSC Anderlecht and it was somewhat of a surprise that he turned up at Monaco back in 2017 when a whole host of top European clubs were after his signature.

The 24-year old has been an ever-present under Brendan Rodgers this season having featured in every single Premier League game as he has become a pivotal cog in Leicester’s well-oiled machine.
