Former Leeds United man David Norris has talked about Marcelo Bielsa’s new potential contract at the club.

While Bielsa’s current deal at Elland Road does run out in the summer, it has been reported that the Argentine’s representatives have already held talks with the club about signing a new one-year deal. The club seem to be confident about getting Bielsa to sign a new contract.

Norris was talking to Transfer Tavern recently and he gave his views about Bielsa’s new deal. The ex-Whites man believes that it never looked like the Argentine would leave the club anyway and he’s heard that Bielsa has already agreed to sign a new deal.

Does Bielsa deserve a raise in his wage?

Norris told: “It didn’t look like he was ever looking to move or was biding his time to see if anything better was out there. It was just never on his list of priorities.

I’ve heard from inside that he has already agreed on a new deal so that’s just a matter of time now before that comes out, and that’s a massive signing for Leeds because it lets everyone just relax over the summer knowing that he isn’t going to leave.”

TIF Thoughts on Bielsa’s new contract…

It was previously stated that the Whites weren’t going to begin talking about a new contract till the end of the season and they were quietly confident that Bielsa would sign it. It was suggested that the Argentine wasn’t going to budge from his policy of waiting till the end of the season to hold negotiations about contracts.

The Whites finished in a rather convincing ninth position in the table and in their first season back in the top flight and they finished only two points behind Arsenal and three points behind Tottenham. The club’s owners are said to be convinced by the progress made.

So it might only be a matter of time before Bielsa signs the new deal.
