Tony Dorigo, former Leeds United player and current official club co-commentator (can be seen by scrolling through his timeline), has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about all things relating to Leeds United.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Tyler Roberts.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road on loan in the January transfer window, but instead, he stayed and has made 15 appearances for the club in the league since the beginning of January.

However, Dorigo would like to see some improvements from Roberts in the goalscoring department.

He said: (55:14) “Tyler’s an interesting one because he’s a player that you can see has got ability, but rather than thinking that we’re going to see it in the future, he needs to produce it now and on a regular occurrence.

“I think he is getting better and better, but if we’re talking about [that] number ten role, and if we’re talking about a team going for a top-six or top-seven position, that player has to be scoring ten goals, and that’s the last bit that Tyler needs to improve on.”

Do you think Roberts can improve?

TIF Thoughts on Roberts…

The former West Bromwich Albion man, who is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, has not scored a single Premier League goal this season and only provided two assists.

Now, if Dorigo is suggesting that Roberts needs to be scoring ten goals a season, he will have to improve by a huge amount to get to the level that the Whites require to push forward.

However, you would think that if he can’t do that, then Leeds might have to find someone else who can.

Roberts is still young, and we hope that he does improve his end product next season, or we do worry about his long-term future at Elland Road.
