Fans of Leeds United have been reacting on Facebook after ex-Whites striker Noel Whelan claimed he’s struggling to work out why Mateusz Klich’s ‘form has dipped so badly.’

The 30-year-old midfielder started his first Premier League game since March 8, when he was hauled off at half-time in a disappointing 2-0 defeat to West Ham United.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

However, Klich failed to impress Whelan as Leeds suffered defeat on the south coast to an impressive Brighton & Hove Albion side.

In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, Whelan raised concerns over the Poland internationals long-term displays as well as his performance at the Amex Stadium: “I thought Klich was poor. He gave us no energy or stability in the midfield,” he said.

“What is wrong with him at the minute? I don’t know. He is not the same player he was a year ago though. It is quite bizarre. I’m struggling to get my head round how his form has dipped so badly.”

It seems it’s not just Whelan who has concerns over Klich’s recent outings as the club’s supporters let their worries be known on the Leeds Insider Facebook page.

Leeds signed Klich back in 2017 from FC Twente for a fee of £1.53 million. Since then, the 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £3.15 million, has made 140 appearances for the Yorkshire club in which he has managed to score 19 goals and provide 19 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Although Leeds have impressed in their first season back in the Premier League following their promotion last campaign, it’s been more of a struggle for Klich, as his lowly 6.46 WhoScored rating shows.
