Marcus Bent says that he has been told by a figure at Everton that they would want to sign Sergio Aguero if he is willing to make the move to Merseyside, in an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol.

The Argentina international is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season following a storied spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero has scored 258 goals in 388 games for the club and there will be interest in clubs from across Europe in snapping up the 32-year-old.

Reports claim that Barcelona have already entered into talks with Aguero over a potential deal, while Chelsea have also been linked.

Everton have to be seen as something of an outside bet, given that they could head into next season without any European football, but Bent believes that the club could make a play to sign Aguero in the next transfer window, given what he has been told by those within the club.

Speaking exclusively to TIF, Bent, who played for Everton between 2004 and 2006, said: “When I spoke to the club, they literally said, if it would happen, it was something they would jump at.

“I think it’s just about whether Aguero wants to go, whether he goes to Europe, or he stays in the Premier League, who knows? We shall see.”
