Dean Windass has exclusively told This is Futbol that Ross Barkley returning to Everton would be a dream move for the midfielder.

Barkley left his boyhood club for Chelsea back in 2017, but has never quite established himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge and is currently on loan at Aston Villa.

Should Everton sign Ramsey?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

He’s enjoyed Europa League and FA Cup glory with the Blues, but the 27-year-old was used as a bit-part player by Frank Lampard last season, which allowed him to be loaned to Villa.

But Barkley, who reportedly earns £96,000-a-week, has been unable to impress for Dean Smith’s side, scoring just three times, two of which came in his opening two appearances, and has found himself on the bench more often than not in the last few months.

And Windass believes that Barkley needs a fresh start, with Goodison Park the perfect place for the midfielder, who came through the ranks at Everton before going on to make more than 200 appearances for the club.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

“He got a good payday at Chelsea, now go back home where the supporters love you, get fit and sort yourself out,” Windass told This is Futbol.

“He’s an unbelievable talent, he’s Josh’s friend and I spoke to him when I was an ambassador and I thought, when he was playing for England, you could be that Gascoigne where you go past people.

“He’s had a bumpy two or three years. If Ancelotti wants him, I can’t see any reason why not. He needs to start playing, he’s a young boy. If that’s a fit, how’s your luck by the way? Wanting him back as a local lad.”
