Former Everton attacker Marcus Bent has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Merseyside club making an attempted transfer move for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, Bent had this to say about the possibility of Everton signing Oxlade-Chamberlain, suggesting the Toffees potentially have the midfielder in their sights.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

He said: “What Everton have said is that he’s someone they would be interested in – the problem being, he’s had injuries.

“He has talent, he’s been around the England squad, he’s mature now.”

Liverpool signed the midfield man back in the 2017 summer transfer window from fellow Premier League side Arsenal for a fee of £34.2 million.

Since then, the 27-year-old, who is currently valued at £18 million, has made 104 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in which he has managed to score 14 goals and provide 11 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Marcus Bent’s comments on a potential transfer approach from Everton for Oxlade-Chamberlain…

Given how Oxlade-Chamberlain only managed to make 13 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League throughout the 2020/21 campaign, in which he managed to score one goal and provide one assist in the process, perhaps a move to Everton could be beneficial for the Englishman’s career if he would be guaranteed regular playing time with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

However, in our view, given the substantial injury record Oxlade-Chamberlain has unfortunately gathered throughout his career and the fact that he would be moving from Liverpool to their Merseyside rivals, this move seems unlikely and unnecessary from an Everton point of view, given the number of central midfielders they currently have in their squad.
